Soooo, in between what feels like 1,000s of GDPR emails, we’ve also received some pretty damn good musical releases as well from all around the globe. Here’s the pick of the bunch.

Want to have your music featured? Then drop us a line here – please be aware that we’re likely to ignore all emails involving the words country, western, country and western and probably something like alt-rockers, so don’t bother. Sorry, not sorry.

UV –  Defender

We start off slowly this time with a haunting piece of music from London-based artist & award-winning composer Marina Elderton, who goes by the name of UV for this piece. She won the PRS Foundation ‘Women Make Music’ last year and has since been finishing work on a debut EP that will be released in the coming months. Keep an eye out.

Another chilled out tune, this time from Californian-born artist Macajey, who currently presides in Tartu, Estonia. The track is directly related to the experiences the artist has had in this city, experiencing the almost never-ending daylight in the long summer nights.  The debut album comes out in June – get it here

Soft streak – Ride

We head in a more upbeat fashion with the Indie/Electro Pop passion project Soft Streak from LA-based duo Tori Schachne and Colton Toy and their catchy tale about “Action without caring about the consequence.” Follow in the spirit of things and give this dreamy little wonder a listen.

MuGeN – Work

Correct me if i’m wrong, but this feels a little like early Foals mixed with Beach Fossils and a touch of LA surf rock, and it is absolutely perfect. According to the band themselves, Leeds based indie/rock clique Mugen were formed in 2017 and have since been biding their time, perfecting their craft and carefully constructing a beautifully thought out musical and visual pairing, staring ‘Mugen’ the hedgehog. ‘Mugen‘ himself has an indulgent drinking and smoking habit, and is a hedgehog who traverses the terrain of the human world as a personification of lead singer, and songwriter Harry Kinchington – well, fair enough Harry….

Otzeki – Foreign Love

Foreign Love is the latest track to be released off Otzeki‘s debut album ‘Binary Childhood’ which is out now. According to the band, the album is “a multi-layered dissertation on the internet, introversion, constant online self-expression, and the struggle between our co-existing private and public personas.” Listen to the track below and see if it floats your boat.

Ah, this track just hits one of those nerves. Wonderful voice, great vibe and melody. Just close your eyes and enjoy. Still is the first single to be released by Francesca Bergami, better known as Lyves and it is taken from a unique 8-part music & short film series. This project is an emotively stirring and captivating exploration of complex emotional themes conveyed through intimate and profound stories about people.

LELO – I LOOKED AT THE SUN

LELO gets summery with his latest release thanks to the help of his friends Marsicans one of the UK’s most talked about pre-album bands right now. 20-year-old LELO played all the instruments in ‘I LOOKED AT THE SUN’ himself, and, not wanting to leave any musical stone unturned, he called up his fellow Leeds mates, Marsicans and invited them into the studio to add some stunning backing vocals to the mix, taking influence from Bon Iver, The Beach Boys and Maccabees. Watch the video below.

BONUS TRACK

Okay, this is a little POPPIER than we’d normally like to go, but the track just has an upbeat vibe to it that’s hard to resist, add to this the little bit of a Florence and the Machine feel to it, and you’ll find them hips already be a shakin’, or you’re just spinning around on your office chair, it depends on where you are…
