EBOW – Punani Power/ Bad Lan

Ebow2_MagdalenaFischer
(C) Magdalena Fischer

Never before have Birkenstock looked this cool. I’ll admit, I dislike them, I don’t know why, they just annoy me. It’s not you Birkenstock, it’s me. But, Ebow somehow manages to make them look cool adorned in a PSG tracksuit and some slick moves to go with her sick rhymes in the video to her new double single, Punani Power/Bad Lan off her new album, Komplexität.

Punani Power, which, you might expect to be about Punani (women’s genitalia) given the title – at least you would where I come from – is actually about sisterhood and the possibility that the word may actually originate from the Hawaiian term for flower, Puanani. You learn something new everyday, don’t you?

Bad Lan is a song which combines words from two languages, the English, bad, and the Turkish, Lan, which comes from oğlan, a term for a boy, but can also be gender neutral. A Bad Lan is, therefore, a person you love to hate because they are simply just too good at what they do.

Anyway, that’s enough of the language lesson. Check out the two tracks in the video below and enjoy the fat beats on offer. You won’t be disappointed.

Ebow will be playing the following gigs in the next few months:

09.02.2018 AT, Vienna @ Fluc
10.03.2018 DE, Wiesbaden @ Tapefabrik Festival
28.04.2018 DE, Munich @ Gasteig / Lange Nacht der Musik

Krief – Automanic – Watch the cool vid here

Screen Shot 2018-01-04 at 21.02.12

Music videos made like short films or in artistic ways are always lovely to watch, take this one by Molly for example. It’s truly something special.

The latest video to catch our fancy is the video to Krief’s latest song,Automanic. The former ex-lead guitarist for The Dears has created an atmospheric song that perfectly accompanies the tragic video. Automanic animates the album artwork reliving the tense moments before a car crash. In the video, the driver struggles to focus on the road as painful memories break her concentration. Krief appears as a ghostlike passenger in the car, reminding us that we can’t run away from our demons. The blinding headlights signal the collision and the impact beautifully overlaps dizzying camera effects during an orchestral bridge. In the final chorus, the message comes back to us in the lyrics, “it’s in your hands now.”

KIDCAT LO-FI – CUP OF TEA

KidcatLo-fi1_KlausPichler

Yes, please! You can’t beat a good cuppa. And anyone that writes a song using the beautiful light brown elixir – that’s right, the only real tea is black with milk – is a winner is our book. Listen to the 2-minute long track below.

The track is the latest single of the vienna-based band’s album, The Wet Album. Get it here.

Nelio – Fuat Foan

Screen Shot 2018-01-05 at 3.46.42 PM

Head back to the summer when it was sunny, and blue, and everything had a much warmer filter to it, like this video to Nelio’s single, Fuat Foan, which in English basically means to get away, go somewhere far away from home: on a road trip, on holiday, to a festival, hell, maybe even just popping to the shop a couple of miles down the road than round the corner. Anything is an adventure if you look at it the right way!
