We mentioned The Golden Rabbit a while back, and we decided to ask band member Alexander Köck to put us in the know about what makes this band tick, and what their plans for the near future are.

The Golden Rabbit is an interesting name for a band. Where did this come from? It is dedicated to “Joseph Beuys”, who melted down a replica of Ivan the terrible into a golden rabbit.
Sum up your music in 10 words or less: I only need two: Analog Electro
How long have you been making music together and how did the band come about? Two of us (Elias and Xandi) have been making music together since 2007. Soon Kevin joined them , I joined them in 2008 or something like that and in 2012 the band was completed by Klemens.
What was the first gig you played like and where was it? Did anything go wrong? It was at the legendary “Cselley Mühle“. To be honest, I wasn’t really satisfied with one of our songs  because I considered it to be boring. So I said: “The next song is extremely boring!” haha
What are your musical influences?  That’s very hard. We come from a very diverse musical background. I will try to predict the other’s opinions. I’d say: Caribou, Pink Floyd, Justice, Digitalism, Elektro Guzzi, Daft Punk, M83, Boys Noize
One thing which you have to have with you when you play live is…………… A Golden Rabbit, actually haha!
People who come to watch your live shows can expect……… Lots of light-action by our friends “Augenschmaus” and we will probably also be there.
What are the 4 albums you couldn’t live without and why? Wow, That’s hard… I could fill that only with Pink Floyd albums haha.
Pink Floyd – The Wall/Wish You Were Here/Dark Side Of The Moon: Needs no explanation.
The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan –  Simply brilliant and it contains “Don’t think twice It’s alrite”
Justice -Cross – It changed electronic music for me. Amazing album.
Blind Willie Johnson – If I had my way, I’d tear the building down – Contains “Dark was the night, Cold was the ground”, The best song ever made.
You sing in English rather than in German like many other Austrian bands, is this a deliberate decision or did it just happen? I guess just by accident.
What is your favourite venue in Austria? To watch gigs, and to play gigs? CSELLEY MÜHLE, OSLIP!
What are the plans for the band over the next 6 months? Are you looking to get signed?  We are shooting 3 (3!) music videos. They are going to be released in autumn. And we are sending a lot of cds to a lot of people. We’ll see where this takes us !
What have you been listening a lot to lately?
How would you describe the Austrian music scene at the moment? There are a few very cool things going on: Bo Candy and his broken Hearts are about to release their second album. The new Francis International Airport record is great and Elektro Guzzi are also making amazing music. On the other hand a lot of music scene people are just too cool for school.
