Substance Is Meaningless Top tracks – August 2018

Just the one post this month as we were sunnin’ it too long and couldn’t get through the backlog in time. Still some absolute bangers in here though.

Oh, and we LOVE being sent ACTUAL, REAL, PHYSICAL music, so drop us a line if you want to make our day.

Far Caspian – The Place

We’ve feature Far Caspian before. The Leeds-based three-piece have dropped another atmospheric track that continues to highlight why they are one of the area’s top bands at the moment. Reet champion this one.

Julez – New Connection

Alt. rock meets the bounding blues in the young dynamo of a songstress, Julez. The New York-based singer/songwriter has been creating a bit of a buzz in the Big Apple, and it’s easy to see why based on this track.

Daste. – Thinkin’ Of

And as far as debut singles go, this is pretty awesome from the Australian three-piece. If you like your music to have a relaxed, almost lazy feel to it that will take your mind up into the clouds and daydream land, then this should be right up your street.

Sonny Elliot – Broken Glasses

If you love your music tinged with beautiful melancholy then you’ll dig Sonny Elliot’s new track Broken Glasses. The track is taken from the Southampton-based brother’s debut EP which is out on 12th of October.

Gently Tender – Avez-Vous Déjà

Taking their name from a song by The Incredible String Band, Gently Tender draw on the sounds of old Soul and Folk records, with a tinge of 60s and 70s psychedelic pop. This track is only their second ever release but the promise is clear to see from the searing songwriting of former Palma Violets members Sam Fryer, Pete Mayhew and Will Doyle.

cln – Waiting for you

Australian electro artist cln has delivered an engaging electronic treat that is chilled, day-dreamy, and very easy to get lost in. That track is a glimpse at what is to come from his debut album.
