Waves Festival 2015 – Who to see – Saturday

Hey Waves, let’s have a party!

Waves Vienna turns five this year. Five years of discovering your new favourite bands, late nights, weird and wonderful venues and dirty, stinking hangovers. In other words, five great years.

As with every Waves Festival the timetable can be a little daunting, the big names are now fewer and far between as it seeks to become one of the key festivals for showcasing new bands. We’ve listened to all of them and picked out a few highlights which you should definitely not miss over the three days. But don’t expect to be able see everything you want to.

Listen to our playlist here

Like Elephants – 20:00 – Künstlerhaus Basement

Like Elephants make hazy dream pop for a sleepy mystical ride through the conclaves of your own mind. Perfect music to start a hungover Saturday evening of music in Vienna.

Inner Tongue – 21:15 – Künstlerhaus Basement

No need to move from the spot as Inner Tongue take over from Like Elephants.

Pola-Riot – 21:45 – Badeschiff

The guys are known for their explosive sets, blending electro, future techno and house and their tracks are always good to get people moving.

Kero Kero Bonito – 21:45 – Porgy & Bess

This is an interesting one. We’re not sure whether we find these guys interesting because they make decent music, or because they are just totally bat-shit crazy. Decide for yourself.

Ebony Bones – 23:00 – Porgy & Bess

Staying on the topic of flamboyant musicians, there are not too many more intriguing than Ebony Bones.

Young Rebel Set – 23:00 – Alte Post

Young Rebel Set are no strangers to the Austrian capital. According to the Waves website, the band have some “belting memories of playing in Austria …“ – let’s hope they make some more on Saturday night.

Austrian Apparel – 23:30 – Künstlerhaus Basement

Head into the night with some of Austria’s best beat-makers at the moment, Austrian Apparel.
